In the fall of 1978, Robert Silverman was invited by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra to the perform the premiere public performance of the Second Piano Concerto by Canadian composing icon Harry Somers. An exuberant, brilliant, lengthy, and complex work in four movements, it had received its CBC broadcast premiere in the early 1950s, but then disappeared for close to a quarter century until conductor Victor Feldbrill resuscitated it.
